Day-car center “Búðatrøð”

Búðatrøð is a day-care center dedicated to supporting residents of the Northern Islands who have been diagnosed with dementia.

The purpose is:

  • With the right treatment and help to support an organized, fulfilling everyday life marked by joy and well-being in the face of illness.
  • Through guidance, counselling and teaching, support families to be able to provide the support and assistance required to care for a relative, who has been diagnosed with dementia.
  • To promote self-determination based on the individual's abilities.

The purpose of the day-care is to help people with dementia remain living at home for as long as possible.

“Búðatrøð” employs people who have expertise and extensive experience in the field of dementia. There is room for 8 – 10 citizens.

In addition to day-care, the staff at “Búðatrøð” also provide guidance, counseling and teaching on dementia issues. If you have any questions or doubts, you are welcome to contact “Búðatrøð” on tel. 793451, weekdays between 10 am and 4 pm.

Apply for a service

A decision on a place at “Búðatröð” will be made based on a professional assessment. The “Búðatrøð” day-care center is situated in the north end of the 1st floor in the retirement home “Heimið við Vágna”.

The head of the department is nurse Gunnvá Müller.
