The day-care at Viðareiði

The purpose of the day-care is to encourage senior citizens to be active in their own lives. Emphasis is placed on health-enhancing and preventative activities in a content-rich everyday life marked by joie de vivre and well-being. The day-care  also helps to make it possible for senior citizens to live at home for as long as possible.

Program
On Wednesdays and Fridays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the day-care center is open to all senior citizens. The offer is free of charge.

On Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the day event is also a referred offer for people who have been diagnosed with dementia. A decision on the proposed offer will be based on a professional evaluation. This offer costs 70 kr. per day.

The activities of the day-care center will be organized in close cooperation with those who attend. Thus, it is the needs and interests of those who are active in the day-care events that make up the agenda.

Activities are diverse and include, among other things, singing, knitting, board games like pop, and more.

Furthermore, families who care for a relative diagnosed with dementia can receive guidance and counselling so that they are able to provide the support and assistance required to their relatives.

All local senior citizens are most welcome to the cozy get-togethers at the day-care center.

The head of the department is nurse Monica Ziska.
