The “Smæran” Activity Center

The activity center is an offer for all citizens over the age of 60 where they can have a variety of activity offers that promote health, well-being and opportunities to create networks and friendships.

  • Tuesday, 9-12 p.m., coffee/tea is available.
  • Tuesday at 3 p.m., members of the “Hugna” retirement club will meet.
  • Tuesday at 7 p.m. there is a men's event.
  • Thursday, 9-12 p.m., coffee/tea is available.
  • Thursday at 2 p.m., women meet for a cozy get-together and to sew blankets.

The premises are not private and should be independent politically and religiously; however, residents of the nursing homes at “á Heygnum”, “Bøgøta”, “Norðoya Ellis og Vistarheim”, and “Norðoya Røktarheim” can rent Smæran for their personal birthdays and anniversaries, just as “Smæran” can be rented out to organizations that have ties to people over 60 years of age.

Everyone is free to make suggestions or to arrange events; however, there is a user’s council at the “Smæran” that coordinates the events. Those manning the user’s council are Jona Nielsen, Poul Havn and Jetta Ellingsgaard.

The regulation for the “Smæran” activity center can be seen here.
